How it all began.

Meet David & Katelynn.

I (Katelynn) was raised in Louisa County, VA. Growing up I enjoyed playing field hockey,  cheering for my hometown, but most of all riding horses. Horses held and still hold a special place in my heart; so most of my highschool career was spent at the barn mucking stalls after school to be able to afford to get in the saddle and ride. I left my hometown to pursue my academic and riding career at Virginia Tech. Post-graduation I returned back to my hometown to pursue a career in health sciences, where I soon fell in love with a farmer whom accepted my love and passion for horses and made my home Madison County.

David was raised on his family farm in Madison County, VA. He was an avid athlete in football, baseball, and basketball, but enjoyed farming most of all. After completing his academic career with an athletic scholarship to play basketball at Eastern Mennonite University, David returned to Madison to establish his life where his heart was most fond of and remained, his family farm.

I knew David was worth a shot when he was up for a first date that included my mother. After continuous dates in the hay fields, hours on hours of tractor rides, horse rides, trips up the mountain, hay deliveries, and tending to the cattle, it didn't take us long to find out how compatible we were. David proposed to share his life through marriage to me in the fall of October 2017 - where without a doubt in my mind said yes, and chose to commit my life to him through Christ on October 27, 2018.

Farming is a busy lifestyle, so why did we want to build a venue? To us, the question is more so of ‘Why not?’ If we had the opportunity to share with others a space to celebrate the most treasurable union and commitment, we were all game! Our marriage plays a key role in our lifestyle: strength, determination, drive, and devotion. We hope that at Renback you’ll see these qualities shine through our team who is the backone of our venue - without them none of this would be possible!

Overall, we enjoy this life sharing and spending time together, with our little one, and our family and friends. Most of all, we enjoy the life God has blessed us with on the farm with our critters!

And the rest is history.

We can’t wait to meet you!
